We now hold so much information within E&FM functions that we need to know how to manage it properly to ensure its security and confidentiality. While much of our information is considered to be “public”, through the publication of statutory returns, Open Information Request responses and reports to Boards for example, the vast majority is considered day to day, mundane and supposedly of little value – until it is no longer there. This one day course is intended to assist the E&F Manager to know what questions to ask in terms of data security (restricted access, backups and sustainability) and confidentiality (who can have access to what, registration with the Information Commissioner, commercially confidentiality within benchmarking and other data sharing exercises). We will also address issues around liaising with the IT service providers; both contracted and in house, as well as web hosting implications and personal data requirements.
